POSITION: Principal DevOps Engineer

LOCATION: Springfield, VA --or-- Herndon, VA

JOB DESCRIPTION:

1. Design, implement, and maintain cloud-native infrastructure and deployment pipelines using Infrastructure as Code
2. Lead and architect scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure solutions across multiple cloud environments
3. Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines for complex microservices architectures
4. Develop and maintain full-stack applications while ensuring operational excellence and reliability
5. Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for production systems
6. Drive security-first infrastructure design and implementation
7. Mentor team members on DevOps best practices and cloud-native technologies

REQUIREMENTS:

1. TS/SCI with CI Poly portion required with current Customer eligibility to include: SBU, SIPR, JWICS, COE & Privileged User Accounts (requiring DoD 8140 Compliance)
2. IC Green Badge Required = YES
3. Candidate must be actively cleared with the Springfield, VA customer.
4. Must be willing to work in SCIF daily or as needed, and participate in on-call rotation for production support as needed
5. 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a significant DevOps focus
6. 5+ years of experience with bash/python scripting
7. 5+ years of experience with CI/CD tools and practices (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc)
8. 5+ years experience with AWS services and cloud-native architecture patterns
9. 3+ years of experience with cloud-native technologies and AWS services (ECS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, SageMaker, RDS, DynamoDB)
10. 3+ years of experience with IAM policies, security groups, and network security
11. 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation)
12. 3+ years of experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS) and container orchestration
13. 3+ years of experience with Authority to Operate (ATO) processes and security documentation
14. Proven track record implementing security controls and compliance requirements (NIST 800-53, FedRAMP)
15. 3+ years of experience with secrets management and security automation
16. Background in security scanning tools and DevSecOps practices (SonarQube, Snyk, etc)
17. DevOps: Monitoring (CloudWatch, Prometheus, etc), logging, and alerting

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 3+ years of experience with disaster recovery
2. 2+ years in TypeScript, Python (Or OOP), writing and reviewing code for enterprise-scale applications
3. Container security and runtime protection knowledge
4. Security compliance automation and continuous monitoring
5. Database administration and optimization (RDS, DynamoDB, MongoDB)
6. Serverless architecture expertise (Lambda, API Gateway, etc)
7. Background in full-stack web development (React, Node.js)
8. Experience leading technical initiatives in large-scale environments
9. System design experience with a focus on scalability and reliability
10. Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

CERTIFICATION: any AWS certification(s) are preferred

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's Degree + 8 years

NOTE: Degree in computer science or IT computer engineering from an accredited college or university.
