Location: Indio/La Quinta, CA (The Polo Club at Trilogy) – pay range provided by J.F. Shea Co., Inc. Actual pay based on skills and experience.

Base pay range: $16.50/hr

Company overview: Trilogy at The Polo Club offers dining, events space, fitness, pools, outdoor recreation, and views of the Santa Rosa and Chocolate Mountains. The feature restaurant, June Hill's Table, and the 2Palms Event Center are open to the public and available for dining reservations and private bookings.

Benefits: New hourly full-time team members (working 30+ hours/week) are eligible for Company medical, dental and life insurance plans the first of the month following 60 days of full-time employment. Full-Time team members accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) at 120 hours/year and are eligible for 7 paid holidays annually. Part-Time team members accrue Paid Sick Leave per state guidelines. All team members 21+ are eligible to participate in the 401(k) plan after 30 days of service. Note: benefits are subject to plan eligibility and company policy.

Position overview: The Fitness Instructor develops fitness classes for different fitness levels, provides training on safe use of exercise equipment, and assists members during class workouts to promote a lifelong health and fitness program. This position reports to the Spa & Fitness Director.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure the BlueStar experience for members and guests by modeling and maintaining the standards in the BlueStar Principles and adhering to BlueStar Resort & Golf (BSRG) and facility policies
• Monitor facility use to ensure safety and security
• Create and lead safe, engaging fitness classes for all levels
• Advise members on class options to fit goals and any physical limitations
• Maintain a professional instructor-client relationship
• Report incidents or accidents to the Assistant Spa & Fitness Director and/or Spa & Fitness Director; stay current with facility calendar and participate in events as directed
• Promote a total facility experience by suggesting programs in other areas to support members’ goals
• Know all spa services offered and suggest treatments to complement fitness routines
• Adhere to schedule, arrive on time, and keep equipment clean and sanitized
• Assist with lifting and storing facility equipment and preparing for events
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum requirements / Qualifications / Skills:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• One year of previous experience and class instruction preferred
• Current First Aid, CPR/AED and other safety certifications as required
• Group Certification and experience with 55+ audiences preferred
• Computer literacy; ability to demonstrate equipment use
• Ability to lift up to 45 pounds; speak clearly to direct a class
• Ability to lead a class while monitoring movements; respond to client questions
• Remain current with exercise, health, and fitness trends
• Ability to promote other facility services to guests
• Excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to work well with others
• Demonstrated initiative and sound judgment; high work standards and attention to detail
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a flexible schedule (evenings and weekends); limited travel may be required
• Valid driver’s license required

Work environment:

This position typically works indoors in designated fitness rooms. The noise level is moderate to loud.

Physical demands:

Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, and perform repetitive motions. Must be able to lift up to 45-pound weight plates. Vision requirements include close and distant, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
