Overview

Riverside Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Certified Nursing Assistant to join our Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) team in Kankakee, Illinois. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential direct care to residents in a skilled nursing facility, supporting their daily living needs and assisting with healthcare tasks under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The CNA plays a crucial role in maintaining the comfort, safety, and well-being of residents while contributing to the overall effectiveness of the nursing team. Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
• Help residents with mobility, including transferring, positioning, and walking, to enhance their comfort and prevent falls.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a caring and supportive environment.

Essential Duties

• Direct Patient Care: Assist with ADLs and mobility; provide companionship and emotional support.
• Monitoring And Reporting: Monitor and record residents' vital signs; observe and report changes in condition; document care accurately and timely.
• Assistance With Medical Tasks: Assist with basic medical tasks as directed by licensed staff; prepare and assist with medical equipment; ensure safety and compliance.
• Hygiene And Infection Control: Follow infection control practices; maintain clean, safe environments; keep work areas organized.
• Resident Interaction And Support: Provide respectful, compassionate care; engage with residents; assist with recreational and social activities.
• Collaboration And Communication: Work with RNs, LPNs, CNAs; communicate with residents and families; participate in team meetings and care plan discussions.
• Documentation And Compliance: Accurately document care provided; ensure compliance with policies and regulatory requirements; participate in audits and quality improvement.
• Organization Compliance: Adhere to federal/state/local regulations (including HIPAA); mentor staff; complete required LMS training.

Qualifications

• Active CNA certification in Illinois
• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred And Required Skills

• Previous experience in healthcare, especially long-term care or skilled nursing
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to perform physical tasks related to patient care
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach with a commitment to high-quality care and resident dignity

Work Environment And Health Requirements

• Exposure to chemicals, blood and body fluids, and potential infectious hazards; adherence to universal precautions and PPE
• Routine responsibilities include assisting with patient care in indoor settings with standard lighting and noise levels

Pay Range

USD $18.83 - USD $23.00 /Hr
