Overview

A Night Warehouse Associate is a highly physical role. The purpose of the position is to select and fill orders, prepare pallets and load trucks in preparation for morning deliveries. This position also helps maintain an organized and efficient warehouse to achieve accuracy and ensure success for our operational team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist shipping and receiving by unloading trucks and checking in merchandise
  • Prepare orders by processing requests and supplying orders; pulling materials; packing boxes and placing orders in delivery area
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to organizational standards
  • Handle all products with care to avoid damages and loss
  • Open bales, crates and other containers using a box cutter
  • Use pump pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, sit-down hi-lo forklift, stand-up hi-lo forklift and safety ladders to select products from warehouse shelves and prepare pallets
  • Fill out pre and post trip sheets for forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Maintain inventory controls by collecting stock location orders, printing requests and recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed; may assist in counting physical inventory
  • Prepare parcels for mailing
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, data entry and computer-related tasks as needed
  • Take initiative to accomplish open tasks; be proactive and seek additional work when available
  • Safety: Complete safety training session and pass safety training test at time of hire and on an annual basis
  • Safety: Act in compliance with safety practices and procedures throughout the warehouse. Report any safety concerns to Warehouse Manager
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and work stations neat; sweep, dust and mop as needed
  • Maintain positive work relations; support teamwork and help coworkers to accomplish team goals
  • Listen and communicate respectfully with employees at all levels within the organization and outside vendors
  • Attendance: Maintain regular attendance and follow call out and time off procedures as outlined in the handbook
  • Comply with company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • The position includes all other responsibilities that may be necessary to fulfill the duties associated with the Night Warehouse team or as may be assigned

Required qualifications

  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Minimum of 3 years experience
  • Basic math skills

Preferred qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Prior work experience in a warehouse setting or as a selector
  • Experience with forklifts and/or pallet jacks and RF scanners

Work Environment

This job operates in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses equipment such as sit-down and stand-up hi-lo forklifts, pump and electric pallet jacks, ladders and RF scanner guns.

Position Type/Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days of work are Sunday through Thursday. Hours of work are approximately 35 to 40 or more hours per week. The night shift starts at approximately 6:00pm and ends when workload is complete and trucks are ready for delivery, by approximately 7:00 am. Some Night Warehouse Associates are scheduled to work four days per week. This position may occasionally require longer hours when workload or project deadlines require it.

Travel is not required for this role.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus. The employee frequently stands, walks, climbs stairs/ladders, stoops, kneels, crouches, balances, and uses hands to finger, handle or feel a keypad, handheld device or phone; and reach with arms. The employee frequently lifts/carries 25-50 pounds from floor to waist height and from waist height to shoulders; occasionally lifts/carries above shoulders or over 50 pounds; and frequently pushes/pulls 25-50 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds.
