Minimum

• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
• Effective communication skills

Desired

• Any retail experience
• Second language skills (speaking, reading and/or writing) to promote trust and respect among associates
• Ability to create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products
• Knowledge of products sold in the department and the store; ability to respond to questions and make suggestions
• Recommend grocery items and inform customers of specials
• Check product quality and ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take action
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; provide customers with fresh products
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
• Maintain a positive attitude and stay current with ads
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines; maintain proper temperatures and logs
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs
• Notify management of accidents
• Report safety risks, issues and illegal activity
• Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations
