Job Description
Purpose and Scope: It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and community. Primary responsibilities are to plan, develop and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.
Essential Job Functions:
- Teaches Economics courses at a variety of times and locations
- Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
- Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner
- Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
- Meets with and advises students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
- Evaluates students to measure progress in achieving course objectives and informs students of progress in a timely manner
- Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
- Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
- Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Master\'s degree in Economics or a Master\'s degree with 18 graduate hours in Economics

- Leadership skills with collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people and appreciate alternative viewpoints
- Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies, including collaborative learning, learning communities, and distance learning
- Commitment to academic excellence, service, and providing a dynamic climate for lifelong learning
- Ability to develop instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and effective use of technology
- Effective strategies to engage students in learning
Work Schedule and Conditions
Work is in a climate-controlled classroom and/or online environment. Hours vary with class times; instructors must meet scheduled class times and be available to students outside of instruction.
- Equipment: PC workstation, general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed
- Location: Online campus with possible on-campus locations
Physical Abilities
The work is sedentary with potential light activity as needed; no special physical demands are required.
Salary
$53.82 per contact hour.
