Overview
Restorative Nursing Assistant (RNA) - Full-Time Mid-Shift 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM at Sequoia Transitional Care. This role provides routine daily nursing care and services to assigned residents in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan and as directed by supervisors.
Schedule note: Mid-Shift 10:00 AM–6:00 PM; Friday–Saturday off.
Responsibilities
- Identify residents before administering treatments or serving meals using the wristband or photo card file; follow authorized abbreviations when recording information.
- Report changes in a resident’s condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse promptly; document entries clearly on appropriate records.
- Report accidents, incidents, and any suspected breaches of resident privacy or unauthorized access to information systems; maintain confidentiality of resident information.
- Perform nursing care procedures you have been trained to do; assist with daily living activities and restorative/rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
- Prepare resident rooms for care (beds made, name tags in place, admission kits available); greet residents and assist with orientation to their room and roommate.
- Assist with transferring, transporting, and accompanying residents as needed; help with packing or moving personal possessions during transfers or discharge.
- Maintain a calm, warm environment; participate in shift handoffs and nursing reports; follow policies on exposure to blood/body fluids and safety procedures.
- Assist with daily functions (oral care, bathing, grooming, dressing), watch for signs of discomfort or need for assistance, and respond promptly to call lights.
- Record food/fluid intake and report changes in eating habits; keep water pitchers clean and within reach; provide after-meal care as needed.
- Observe skin integrity; report any pressure areas or injuries; assist in preventing decubitus ulcers.
- Use equipment trained to operate; report any defective equipment to supervisors.
- Honor a resident’s treatment refusals and communicate appropriately to supervisors.
Qualifications
- Must possess, as a minimum, an RNA certificate and/or be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with state laws.
- CPR certification preferred.
- Education: Minimum of a 10th grade education.
- Language/Communication: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials; ability to write reports and present information effectively.
- Math/Reasoning: Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts and solve practical problems; ability to interpret written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds occasionally; ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform tasks as required; might assist in evacuations during emergencies.
