Product Engineering is responsible for Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products, including product engineering, media engineering, QA, personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.
The User Foundations team builds critical shared user capabilities across Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Star+, implementing reliable, high-throughput services for personalized experiences. We are a fast-paced, collaborative, and fun team seeking someone ready to contribute immediately.
Role Overview:
We seek a Principal Software Engineer passionate about developing high-performance platforms. Success requires effective communication, collaboration skills, a passion for learning, and a solid understanding of programming and computer science.
In this role, you will help deliver scalable, performant, maintainable, and testable software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop software solutions and specifications
- Write, test, document, and deploy code
- Mentor team members and ensure quality standards
- Support and maintain production systems
- Collaborate on solving complex problems and drive engineering best practices
- Lead architectural initiatives and influence organizational change
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience with large-scale Java services and related technologies
- Strong Java and object-oriented programming skills, solid CS fundamentals
- Experience with source control and CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Experience mentoring and leading projects
Compensation:
In Seattle, WA, and New York City, NY: $193,100 - $258,900/year. In Santa Monica/Burbank/Glendale/L.A., CA, and Bristol, CT: $184,300 - $247,100. In San Francisco, CA: $201,900 - $270,700. Actual offers depend on various factors. Additional benefits include bonuses and incentives.
