Accountant | Overland Park, KS

Our client, a well-established and growing company in the Kansas City metro area, is seeking an Accountant to join their team in Overland Park, KS. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of daily accounting activities while also playing a key role in month-end close, financial reporting, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Record and reconcile daily banking transactions, including deposits, debits, sales tax activity, and credit card transactions.
• Accurately enter and validate accounts payable activity and support vendor payment processing.
• Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and other supporting documentation.
• Manage month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Assist in preparing financial statements and special reports for leadership review.
• Partner closely with Sales and Service Directors to analyze variances, monitor expenditures, and manage cash flow.
• Collaborate with AR and collections specialists, acting as a point of escalation for collections issues when needed.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, internal controls, and process optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting/finance experience, with exposure to multi-entity accounting.
• Strong knowledge of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems (NetSuite experience a plus).
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to track budget expenses and analyze variances.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks with urgency.
• Competitive salary range: $60,000 – $75,000, depending on experience.
