F5 Distributed Cloud is seeking a Senior Architect for Application Delivery to lead the architectural design and evolution of core application delivery services within our SaaS platform. This includes shaping the direction of services such as load balancing, traffic steering, DNS, Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB), content acceleration, and caching. Responsibilities include designing and evolving SaaS-native architectures for load balancing, traffic routing, DNS, and acceleration services ensuring performance, scalability, and low latency across global deployments; defining and promoting architectural principles for multi-tenant isolation, regional failover, routing logic, and service composition; working closely with product and development teams to ensure software and product architectures align with company vision; evaluating emerging technologies; driving projects and mentoring engineering teams; partnering with management on product timelines; participating in cross-functional design projects; collaborating with product, SRE, and development teams to define scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant designs; mentoring engineers; representing architecture in planning forums. Job duties also include developing and maintaining reference architectures, design documents, reusable frameworks; driving architectural reviews, design validations, and threat models; analyzing system bottlenecks and proposing optimizations; collaborating on capacity planning and rollout strategies; identifying emerging technologies; leading software development projects; documenting software aspects; planning and scheduling deliverables; resolving software system issues; and developing good working relationships with other employees. Skills required include 15+ years designing application delivery and data plane systems; deep knowledge of L4–L7 networking protocols including HTTP, TLS, TCP, UDP, and DNS; experience with load balancing algorithms, service discovery, caching, and GSLB; experience designing and implementing distributed cloud solutions at scale; understanding of containers and orchestration technologies; experience architecting multi-region, multi-tenant systems focusing on availability and performance; strong communication skills; broad understanding of coding and programming languages; extensive knowledge of software development processes and technologies; strong soft skills including attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication.
