Job Description:
This role is responsible for defining and leading the engineering approach for complex features to deliver significant business outcomes. Key responsibilities include delivering complex features and technology, enabling development efficiencies, providing technical thought leadership through multiple software implementations, and applying a breadth of technical competencies. The role is accountable for end-to-end solution design and delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the design and engineering approach for complex features align with the larger portfolio solution.
- Define the technology tool stack for solutions and evaluate new testing tools, frameworks, and practices for teams.
- Enable teams/applications with CI/CD capabilities and collaborate with other technical stakeholders to ensure efficient CI/CD pipelines.
- Guide and influence teams on design and best practices for high code performance, including pairing and code reviews.
- Deliver end-to-end automation and development of complex features for one or multiple teams at the program level.
- Conduct research, design prototyping, and explore new tools and components for release management, CI/CD, and features.
- Work with stakeholders to establish high-level solution needs and collaborate with architects on technical requirements.
Position Summary:
This is a Senior Software Engineer role within the Bank of America Authentication Technology team . The team is responsible for identity and access management across all channels, including mobile, desktop, IVR, and contact center. We seek a hands-on engineering professional to help migrate systems to cloud and containers. The candidate should have experience building high-volume authentication systems across the full stack, from front end to services, databases, and reporting. Passion for clean, defect-free code, problem-solving, and participating in ideation sessions is essential, along with a willingness to innovate and contribute to patents.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of hands-on software development experience in at least one statically typed language (Java or C++) and one dynamically typed language (Groovy or Python).
- 5+ years of experience leading and mentoring engineers.
- 5+ years of building high-volume web applications.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
- Experience deploying applications in cloud environments and containers.
- Knowledge of secure coding practices.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills for technical and business discussions.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Identity and Access Management, server-side frameworks like Spring MVC, and building RESTful web services.
- Proficiency in multiple JVM languages and performance tuning with JVM internals understanding.
- Experience with NoSQL databases like Cassandra and distributed caching frameworks.
- Background in mathematics or statistics.
- Experience working in Agile teams.
- Open-source contributions.

Pay Transparency details:
Location: US - WA - Seattle - 401 Union St - Rainier Square (WA1510)
Pay range: $119,000.00 - $200,400.00 annualized salary, with offers based on experience, education, and skills. This role is eligible for discretionary incentives and benefits, including paid time off and resources to support employee well-being.
