This position is a Security Officer – Unarmed in a hospital environment in Miami, FL. The role involves patrols, access control, monitoring CCTV and alarm systems, and reporting, with duties that support safety and security for patients, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Perform security patrols of hospital grounds on foot or in vehicle; document detailed observations of unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
- Assist hospital staff with de-escalation of situations involving patients; restrain combative individuals as necessary (within company and customer guidelines).
- Transport patients to the morgue, as needed.
- Escort patients from the helicopter pad (high elevation) to the emergency department as required.
- Assist with evacuations during fires, medical emergencies, and natural disasters.
- Sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
- Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
- Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits; ensure only authorized individuals enter and exit the hospital, and that no contraband or hospital items are brought in or out.
- Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure that authorized removal of property is conducted within client requirements.
- Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required.
Qualifications (must Have)
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current driver’s license if driving a company- or customer-owned vehicle.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- Minimum of two (2) years of verifiable employment history relating to customer service or the protective service industry (preferably security, healthcare, military, law enforcement, or corrections).
- Must be at least 18 years of age, or higher if required by the state.
- Able to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
- Demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Problem solving skills and active listening skills.
- Ability to assess and evaluate situations quickly and accurately; able to mediate conflict with tact and diplomacy.
- Write informatively, clearly, and accurately; attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Service in Military Occupational Specialty related to law enforcement or security, or verified work experience in law enforcement, adult corrections, or firefighting fields.
- Graduate of a Certified Public Safety Academy or related work experience in safety or security.
- Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement or criminal justice related studies.
- 8+ years of service in any military branch.
- Associate’s degree (or 60 credits) or higher in law enforcement or criminal justice with current or prior active military service.
