Organization Summary
Community Care Cooperative (C3) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, Accountable Care Organization (ACO) governed by Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). Our mission is to leverage the collective strengths of FQHCs to improve the health and wellness of the people we serve. We are a fast-growing organization founded in 2016 with 9 health centers and now serving hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries who receive primary care at health centers and independent practices nationally. We are an innovative organization developing new partnerships and programs to improve the health of members and communities, and to strengthen our health center partners.
Job Summary
The Director of Finance reports directly to the Vice President, Finance and is primarily responsible for all elements of finance operations, financial reporting, managing banking relationships, and is the primary point of contact with our outsourced accounting vendor. The Director of Finance works closely with all internal departments, third-party vendors, and has substantial interface with our member Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s).
Responsibilities
Finance Operations:
- Lead general ledger activity for C3 and its subsidiaries including:
- Ensuring expenses are classified in the accounting system properly
- Attributing expenses and revenues to appropriate cost centers
- Executing on inter-company transactions and eliminations
- Drive monthly financial review and issuance of capitation payments to FQHCs
- Oversee preparation of vendor invoices for approval and payment, ensure payments are appropriately documented
- Manage workflows of direct reports and contract accounting firm to maintain efficient processes and adherence to internal controls
- Implement and manage banking controls, such as positive pay
- Lead annual independent financial audit, including a secondary 403(b) audit
- As appropriate, review, develop and/or revise finance policies and procedures
- Support sound financial operations and minimize risk across all financial transactions
- Monitor cash balances for C3 and its subsidiaries to ensure sufficient cash flow for operations
- Lead the annual budgeting process
- Support internal departments in project planning, bringing quantitative rigor to the project planning process
- Produce monthly financial statements for C3 and its subsidiaries
- Use financial reports produced by external partners to inform CFO and management of areas of concern and/or areas that need financial performance improvement
- Support monthly financial reporting to management, the company board and committees
- Prepare financial reporting and submit required financial reports to external partners including MassHealth and CMS
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
- Proven ability to manage a complex general ledger and translate financial data into clear, accurate reports for both internal and external stakeholders
- Capacity to manage and work in collaboration with an external contracted accounting firm to produce accurate, timely month-to-date and year-to-date financial statements
- Management of multiple institutional bank accounts with strong attention to internal controls, security, cash flow optimization and financial operations
- Strong quantitative skills with moderate- to- advanced excel capabilities to quickly synthesize large financial data sets into digestible information that will drive payment distribution to our critical partners
- Excellent communication skills with a track record of building trust across departments and external partners
- Ability to communicate verbally and written form clearly and concisely regarding financial information and other accounting areas to senior and executive audiences
- Flexibility in a dynamic work environment
- Self-starter; exercises high degree of initiative, judgement, discretion and decision making to achieve objectives
- Works well with others, understanding different perspectives and finding collaborative ways to the get the job done
- Experience with Quickbooks Online, Divvy, Expensify
- Knowledge of cost allocation models, risk adjustment and capitation
- Experience with anti-racism activities, and/or lived experience with racism is highly preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree required; degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Graduate degree in business or finance field preferred, but not required
- CPA designation preferred, but not required
- At least three years of experience in public or private accounting or audit firm or similar experience
- At least two years of management experience
