Electrical Engineer – Infrastructure Projects (Bay Area)
Location: San Francisco Bay Area (hybrid: office + field)
Salary: Competitive DOE + Benefits + Growth Opportunity
We are hiring on behalf of an established electrical contractor in the San Francisco Bay Area that specializes in infrastructure work, including municipal water and wastewater treatment plants, pump and lift stations, EV charging installations, street lighting, and traffic signal systems. The company has a strong track record of delivering high-quality public infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, review, and develop electrical systems for public works projects (power distribution, lighting, instrumentation, and control)
- Generate and interpret single-line diagrams, load calculations, panel schedules, and conduit/cable routing plans
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, and structural engineers
- Provide field engineering support during construction, installation, commissioning, and testing phases
- Ensure all work complies with NEC, California Electrical Code, and applicable utility standards
- Support project managers with technical submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation
- Participate in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling
- Promote a strong culture of safety and compliance on all job sites
Ideal Candidate
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience: 3+ years in electrical design and/or field engineering, preferably within infrastructure or heavy civil environments
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with AutoCAD (Revit or other BIM tools a plus)
- In-depth knowledge of NEC and California Electrical Code
- Familiarity with low- and medium-voltage systems, motor control, and grounding systems
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects
- Comfortable working both in-office and on active construction sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with municipal agency projects (SFPUC, SFMTA, DPW, etc.)
- Familiarity with traffic signal systems, EV infrastructure, or water treatment facilities
- EIT or PE license (or working toward licensure)
