Overview

Role: Business Analyst. Location: Hybrid Lansing, MI (local candidates only; 2 days onsite per week). Duration: 12 months.

The Business Analyst is responsible for gathering and documenting clear, testable business requirements from the client and communicating business needs and system functionality to technical and non-technical stakeholders, project team members, and the user community. The Analyst also serves as the ScrumMaster on projects (heavy usage of Azure DevOps) and coordinates with the PMO's Project Manager for artifacts/documentation.

On-site days are Tuesday and Wednesday (8 hours per day in office).

The ideal candidate will live within one hour of Lansing, MI. The Business Analyst collaborates with the project team and stakeholders to examine current and future-state business processes, data, and systems to guide requirements gathering related to the desired system functionality.

Responsibilities

• Document business requirements that are clear, unambiguous, testable, and aligned with business needs using standard templates and in adherence to DTMB and MDOS policies, standards, and guidelines.
• Facilitate requirement gathering meetings to identify impacted business processes and document project business requirements. Attendees include relevant project team members and stakeholders as identified in the Communication Plan.
• Maintain the project backlog on Agile projects and work with the product owner to set priorities throughout the project duration.
• Understand project scope and actively monitor the requirements process to ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Understand high-level information governance objectives and ensure stakeholder inclusion and awareness regarding data requirements.
• Resolve critical IT issues as they pertain to the BA role.
• Provide information and analysis for Build vs. Buy project decisions.
• Understand project-specific benefits and the impact of changes to scope or business requirements.
• Ensure SEM (system engineering methodology) deliverables within the BA's responsibility are completed, reviewed, and approved in line with area processes.
• Collaborate with UI/UX solution architects, DBAs, developers, QA testers, and others to ensure understanding of requirements, functionality, size, and scalability of the IT solution.

Qualifications / Top Skills

• 5+ Years as a Business Analyst
• Azure DevOps knowledge (creating epics/features/user stories and moving cards through project lifecycle) – 5+ years
• QA knowledge – 5+ years
• Understanding of BA, QA, DEV roles/responsibilities – 5 years
• Experience with as-is/to-be processes and content creation – 5 years
• Experience with creating product roadmaps – 3 years
• Familiarity with Project Management Methodologies/Agile – 3 years
• Adept with BA tools (e.g., Figma, Visio) – 3 years
