Division Overview:
Our Substation Engineering Division has recognized national expertise in planning and designing new substations and high-voltage electrical substations and switchyards. Our diverse talents enable us to offer comprehensive design services, technical knowledge, and solutions tailored to client needs.

Job Summary:
The Relay Protection and Controls Engineer is responsible for designing and procuring protective relaying equipment for substations, switchyards, and transmission lines. They ensure adherence to design and construction scope processes, work closely with clients to ensure quality standards, and provide field support during construction as needed.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • 4+ years of experience in electrical systems engineering within Utilities or Energy industries
  • Experience with ETAP, WinIGS, IEEE 88/998
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Bentley MicroStation, or Bentley Substation software is a plus
  • PE Certification
  • Knowledge of SCADA, automation, relay settings, RTU configuration, and Protection & Controls engineering concepts is a plus
  • Experience in the electric utility or petrochemical industry
  • BSEE Degree with 6+ years of experience

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify protection and control schemes for substations
  • Select protection devices for equipment within a substation
  • Prepare scopes of work and estimates for substation projects
  • Determine proper equipment sizing and order materials
  • Maintain adherence to customer standards for relay protection
  • Create wiring diagrams, schematics, protection panels, and diagrams for relay protection
  • Interface with clients and vendors
  • Perform load calculations and field support for substations
  • Mentor new engineers
