Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring for an IT Technical Support Specialist!
Location: Norfolk, VA
Work Shift: First (Days)
Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance related to computer hardware, applications, software devices, and monitoring systems.
- Diagnose technical issues, assist users remotely or in person, and ensure proper installation and functionality of IT systems.
- Document and track support requests, resolutions, and system changes; escalate complex issues to higher-level IT support teams when necessary.
- Assist with system maintenance and monitoring by installing, configuring, and maintaining IT hardware and software; monitor systems and applications to identify performance issues or potential security risks; keep systems updated with patches, updates, and security measures.
- Provide clear and effective technical guidance to users with varying levels of IT knowledge; communicate IT solutions in a user-friendly manner to non-technical customers.
- Maintain a customer-focused and results-oriented attitude, ensuring prompt resolution of issues.
- Work independently and collaboratively within a team; coordinate with other IT teams to resolve system-wide issues and implement technical solutions.
- Provide training and guidance to end users on best practices for IT security and system usage.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
Certification/Licensure
- HP & Dell certification (Preferred)
- No specific certification or licensure requirements
Experience
- Required to have 3 years of experience in the IT environment

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 525-bed tertiary care facility that is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School.
