Admissions Director (Administrative)
Manage the admissions process efficiently to ensure a positive experience for residents, families, and supporting staff. Plan, direct, and monitor the daily operations of the Admissions Department to meet budgeted resident census goals and ensure professional and efficient admissions. Admit patients to the healthcare facility, screen patients by comparing their condition to admission criteria, and complete admission and financial responsibility forms.
Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Sales and Marketing department. Collaborate with leaders of other facility departments to ensure timely communication and enhance the admissions experience for residents and their families. Confirm that all insurance benefit coverage meets standards of admission.
Coordinate and arrange physical, social, emotional, and support services, including transportation. Obtain applicant information by requesting completed applications and medical information, verifying and clarifying details, interviewing patients and family members, and explaining admission criteria. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of facility services to educate referral sources as appropriate.
Oversee bed assignments and complete preliminary paperwork for admissions. Maintain accurate records of bed availability and coordinate with the Director of Nursing and/or Case Manager to ensure appropriateness of admissions. Initiate and nurture contacts with physicians, social workers, and discharge planners to maximize referrals and facilitate admissions. Attend daily stand-up meetings.
Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill, and Evacuation Procedures, and know how to implement them. Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information, and report any incidents of unauthorized disclosure.
Assist in planning and executing outreach events such as health fairs and educational programs to attract hospital discharge planners, physicians, and other key individuals. Update job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, and networking.
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in healthcare or related field preferred.
- Two years of admissions experience preferred.
- LVN or RN license preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and technical documents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in a low to moderate noise environment.
Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds, and regularly sit, stand, walk, and communicate. Use of office equipment required.
Work Environment: Typical office setting with low to moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations available.
