The Engineering team uses the Scrum Agile methodology. The Engineering Team is distributed across four geographic locations: Holmdel NJ, San Jose CA, Colorado Springs CO, and Pune India.
About the Role:
Index Engines is seeking a visionary and highly accomplished Distinguished Engineer to join our world-class engineering team. As a technical leader, you will drive the architecture, design, and innovation of next-generation Index Engine solutions. You will collaborate cross-functionally, mentor top engineering talent, and influence the strategic direction of our technology stack.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership:
- Serve as the principal architect and technical authority for distributed systems, storage and networking and related areas and setting the strategic direction for system design, scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Design, prototype, and oversee the implementation of large-scale, distributed, and fault-tolerant systems that power our core products and platforms.
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leaders, fostering a culture of technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and innovation.
- Cross-Functional Influence:
- Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment of distributed systems with business objectives.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, evaluate emerging technologies, and drive adoption of best practices in distributed computing, cloud architectures, and data consistency models.
- Incident Response & Reliability:
- Lead root cause analysis and remediation of critical production incidents, championing robust monitoring, alerting, and recovery strategies.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (PhD a plus).
- Experience:
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and scaling distributed systems in production environments.
- Proven track record of technical leadership and architectural ownership.
- Technical Expertise:
- Experience with file systems, block and object storage, networking protocols, and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Familiarity with NoSQL, SQL, distributed file systems) and messaging systems.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to drive cross-team initiatives and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
