Base pay range

$90,000.00/yr - $110,000.00/yr

REPORTS TO: Tax Partner
SUMMARY: The successful tax manager should be highly skilled and motivated, with a deep understanding of Federal and Hawaii laws, regulations, and procedures. The tax manager will be responsible for overseeing multiple engagements, developing staff competence, and ensuring quality service for our clients. This position includes tax compliance, planning, advisory and consulting services. Experience with a wide range of entity types is preferred.
Duties And Responsibilities

  • Tax Compliance & Preparation: Manage and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations (C-Corp, S-Corp), and other entities, ensuring accurate and timely filings.
  • Tax Planning & Advisory: Provide strategic tax planning and consulting to clients, identifying tax-saving opportunities, advising on risk mitigation, and ensuring compliance with changing tax regulations.
  • Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building strong, long-term relationships, and addressing any tax-related inquiries.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Supervise, mentor, and train junior staff and senior tax accountants, ensuring quality control and fostering professional growth within the team.
  • Research & Stay Current: Stay up to date with changes in tax laws, regulations, and industry trends. Conduct tax research and prepare technical memorandums as needed.
  • Audit Support: Lead IRS and state tax audits, prepare documentation, communicate with tax authorities, and advise clients on strategies to resolve tax disputes.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements for greater efficiency in tax preparation, filing, and compliance.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises 4-6 employees within the tax department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) and 5+ years of related experience.
  • Four to ten years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with UltraTax CS is preferred.

  • Identifies and discusses potential opportunities to improve the efficiency or effectiveness of procedures
  • Pursues continuous professional development, including applying previous experiences or training to future assignments
