This position is part of Automation Engineering, AD&L, located in Harbourgate, Portsmouth, and requires on-site presence. The role involves setting the technical direction of Cytiva’s automation platforms, delivering standard and sustainable industrial automation technology to support our commercial unit operations and solutions.
Responsibilities
- Drive the standardization of automation technologies across the business, including global standards for platforms, system architectures, and software applications.
- Lead automation engineering teams in designing and developing innovative industrial automation solutions within global project teams.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand core requirements and develop technology roadmaps for phased transformation.
- Improve internal processes and solution delivery through modern engineering tools and practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field.
- 10+ years’ experience in automation hardware and software design and implementation across manufacturing sectors, including life sciences.
- Expertise with PLC/PAC controllers, HMI/SCADA, DCS systems, and platforms like Siemens, Rockwell, or Inductive Automation.
- Experience with full development lifecycle and industry trends in automation and digitalization.
Additional Skills (Preferred but Not Required)
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., MS SQL), scripting languages (Python), or high-level languages (C#).
- Familiarity with modern software development tools like Git and Azure DevOps.
- Knowledge of IT/OT environments, industrial networking, and virtual machines.
Travel Requirements
Willingness to travel 10-20% of the time.
