As a Research Engineer, you will advance and deploy AI algorithms for our self-driving vehicles. You will collaborate with top scientists and engineers in deep learning, computer vision, and self-driving tech to develop solutions that help our vehicles understand and navigate their environment. We value originality, innovation, and rigorous validation as we transition research into production. Senior engineers are encouraged to apply.

You will...

• Prototype, evaluate, and iterate on solutions using real-world data and simulations to enhance the accuracy, robustness, and safety of our algorithms.
• Formulate problems and propose pragmatic, long-term solutions based on research insights, leveraging your expertise in deep learning, computer vision, and self-driving technologies.
• Support deploying solutions into production, working closely with platform teams for seamless integration.
• Ensure engineering excellence through high-quality, well-structured, and tested code.
• Collaborate across disciplines on perception, motion forecasting, planning, traffic modeling, and sensor simulation, integrating research into our self-driving platform.
• Stay updated with the latest in AI, machine learning, computer vision, and self-driving tech, applying new insights.
• Work with large datasets and Waabi's high-fidelity simulator, Waabi World.
• Contribute to research publications and Waabi's blog.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, machine learning, or related field.
• Experience in applied research projects.
• Passion for translating research into practical solutions.
• Strong understanding of computing fundamentals and code efficiency.
• Proficiency in Python, with focus on high-quality, tested code.
• Experience working with large datasets for machine learning.

Bonus:

• Master's or PhD in related fields.
• Experience deploying machine learning models into production.
• Knowledge of current trends and cutting-edge techniques in machine learning.
• Previous experience in self-driving tech or related areas.
• Publications in top conferences/journals.
• Experience collaborating with platform and research teams.

The US annual salary range is $122,000 - $215,000 USD, plus perks and benefits. Compensation includes base salary, equity, and bonuses. Perks include health benefits, unlimited vacation, flexible hours, work-from-home, meals, team events, and more.
