Role Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Substation Electrical Engineer to join our Power Delivery & Renewable team. This senior position involves technical leadership, project management, and client engagement, primarily focusing on substation engineering for utility and developer clients in North America. The role requires collaboration across various engineering disciplines and adherence to all relevant codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop the Substation Electrical team, ensuring resource planning and quality control.
  • Support project development from conceptual layout to detailed design and construction.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, protection & control, and other engineering teams to develop comprehensive design packages.
  • Act as Project Manager, Proposal Manager, or Technical Lead to support business growth.
  • Mentor junior staff and ensure quality assurance on engineering deliverables.
  • Support client meetings and business development efforts.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in substation design, studies, and standards.
  • Experience within Power Delivery Substation Electrical consultancy businesses.
  • PE License.
  • Proficiency in software such as SKM, ASPEN, ETAP, CAPE, CDEGS, WinIGS, and adherence to NEC, IEEE, and local codes.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
