The position requires detail-oriented General Manager responsible for maintaining receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. L eadership will be crucial in driving the success and efficiency of the Service Center, ensuring that all operations align with New World’s standards and strategic goals.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Communication : Educate, communicate, and support New World’s 5 core values within the Service Center, fostering a culture of safety, service, and innovation.
  • Strategic Planning : Develop and execute strategic plans to enhance profitability, productivity, and efficiency in the Service Center.
  • Team Management : Supervise, train, and direct Service Center staff to ensure efficient operations, adherence to quality standards, and proper handling of customer shipments. This includes minimizing claims and ensuring all staff receive proper training.
  • Collaboration : Regularly interact with the Regional Vice President and leadership team to align Service Center operations with strategic priorities.
  • Staffing and Training : Ensure the Service Center is adequately staffed in both the office and warehouse, and that all staff are fully trained and standardized across the service center group.
  • Driver and Mover Management : Maintain appropriate driver/mover ratios and ensure compliance with established guidelines.
  • Financial Oversight : Manage the Service Center’s profit and loss, understanding the impact of financial statements on profitability. Monitor expenses and implement methods to generate a profitable Service Center.
  • Performance Evaluation : Prepare and deliver accurate annual performance evaluations to Service Center staff.
  • Operational Review : Review quarterly scores and adjust budgets, driver/mover ratios, and expenses as needed to meet company benchmarks.
  • Customer Resolution : Work with Headquarters on urgent issues to ensure timely responses and resolutions for customers.
  • Claims Monitoring : Monitor claims to prevent issues with individual crews.
  • Equipment Management : Ensure the Service Center has the necessary equipment to reduce rentals and operate efficiently.
  • Payroll Compliance : Monitor and evaluate payroll to ensure compliance with the budget.
  • Scheduling : Review work schedules daily to ensure proper staffing and planning for the week.
  • Vehicle Maintenance : Ensure drivers complete daily pre/post-trip inspections and that vehicles are well-maintained in coordination with the Fleet Department.
  • Facility Maintenance : Ensure the warehouse and office are well-maintained and safe.
  • Other Duties : Any and all duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five (5) years, prior experience in HHG industry and operating a Service Center/Warehouse
  • Possess a valid CDL A license with tractor trailer driving experience and good MVR/PSP record, preferred
  • Have to ability to recruit, train, motivate, and discipline Drivers and Movers
  • Good computer skills with Microsoft products
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Available to travel in the effort of supporting the business
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and a DOT physical

Physical Requirements

  • Work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Move about the office to access office machinery, cabinets, etc.
  • Operate a computer and other office machinery.
