Responsibilities
Provides superior patient care and performs administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic-based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider. Enters, maintains, and reports all medical history, medical coding, and files claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Patient visit support that may include greeting patients, and escorting patients to exam room and/or taking patients' vital signs, and other applicable medical information to effectively support the reason for the patients visit and recommended treatment. Sterilizes and prepares medical instruments. Ensures patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients. Provides patients with privacy, comfort, safety and hygiene. Assists in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments and equipment for all exam rooms. Maintains appropriate paperwork for inventory control and reviews orders received for completeness. Addresses and requests referrals and other insurance authorizations in addition to passing along patient information for prescription, x-ray or lab requisitions to necessary parties. This includes calls to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.
Qualifications
Job Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Prior experience in a clinic or hospital setting supporting patient care Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge. BLS certification required within 14 days of start.
