Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications, customer, quality, and aerospace standards. The role focuses on recommending and implementing improvements to production and transactional processes, methods, and controls, as well as coordinating manufacturing launches for new or revised products. This position prioritizes process improvement, problem resolution, project management, and employee training while applying Lean manufacturing methods to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Carry out process improvement, problem resolution, project management, and employee training.

Improve manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency by applying methodologies such as Standardized Work, 5S / Visual Management, and Continuous Flow.

Prepare and present plans for improvements and coordinate deployment, including training of team members.

Perform research, design, and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods, and production equipment.

Analyze and optimize transactional processes, such as production sequencing, material movements/transactions, and inventory control to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Apply Pull and Kanban methods to reduce inventory and lead time.

Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of building and equipment.

Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results.

Monitor project tracking status to ensure projects are completed accurately and timely.

Represent manufacturing on cross-functional teams.

Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Maintain a safe, secure, and legal work environment, adhering to all company policies and procedures.

Maintain and protect the confidentiality of information and products.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering degree is preferred.

Ability to successfully handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Experience in understanding a variety of aerospace manufacturing processes.

Knowledge of related software including CATIA, AUTOCAD, and PLM.

Work Environment

The company specializes in making aircraft seating. This is a temporary project with potential for expansion. There are three positions available. Work hours are from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with flexibility to start no later than 8:00 am and leave no earlier than 4:00 pm. The role is part of a team of 9 industrial and manufacturing engineers.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Santa Maria, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
