Nestled in the scenic mountains near Michaux State Forest, South Mountain Restoration Center is a skilled nursing home facility that provides long-term care and is operated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will provide basic care to residents by addressing their personal hygiene and physical and emotional needs to ensure a healthy, clean, and safe living environment. You will support rehabilitation and restorative programs by assisting professional staff in helping residents achieve their highest potential for independence and self-fulfillment. Duties include utilizing therapeutic communication and crisis prevention techniques when interacting with residents, advocating on behalf of residents, and contributing to each resident's care plan by participating in team meetings to review treatment plans and develop personalized goals and methods. Additionally, you will instruct residents with bed making and caring for their belongings or perform these tasks for those who need assistance. You will also monitor and assist during meals, teach proper eating habits, and encourage adequate nutritional intake.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 2nd shift (2:45 PM to 11:15 PM, with a 30-minute lunch) or 3rd shift (11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with no lunch). Work hours and schedule may change based on operational needs. Rotating on and off duty days including weekends and holidays. Overtime and travel: As needed Telework:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry;
or Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents. Special Requirement: This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry. Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently
waived
for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
