ABOUT THE ROLE
The Dock Worker will play a critical role in the operation of the loading dock, supporting the efficient processing of goods, ensuring that products are accurately loaded and unloaded in a timely manner, and maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the dock environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately receive, inspect, and unload shipments, ensuring all goods are accounted for and meet quality standards.
Assist in the accurate loading of trucks for outbound deliveries, ensuring efficient use of space and appropriate stacking of cargo.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the loading dock area, adhering to safety standards and protocols at all times.
Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to facilitate the movement of goods safely and efficiently.
Collaborate with the Dock Supervisor to ensure that workloads are balanced and that operations run smoothly throughout the shift.
Perform regular maintenance and safety checks on equipment, reporting any malfunctions or safety hazards to the Dock Supervisor.
Follow all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment for all dock personnel.
Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation and reporting any discrepancies to management.
Participate in training programs as assigned to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the dock operations.
Requirements
Required Skills and Competencies:
Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and effectively.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality.
Proficient in understanding and following written and verbal instructions.
Ability to work collaboratively with team members and demonstrate effective communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in a warehouse or dock environment is advantageous.
Completion of forklift operator training is preferred; certification may be required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50-100 pounds.
Ability to stand for extended periods and engage in physically demanding tasks.
Capable of working in varying climate conditions and environments, including frequent exposure to temperatures and noises associated with dock operations.
