As a Medical Assistant (MA), you will perform patient-oriented procedures under the direction and supervision of a clinician, RN, or LVN, ensuring the delivery of safe and high-quality patient care. Your role will encompass assisting clinicians with minor medical and surgical procedures, as well as performing various clerical and administrative duties related to patient care. This position is based at our clinic located at 1633 Medical Center Point, Colorado Springs, CO. Key Responsibilities: Demonstrate exemplary behavior and communication skills that align with our commitment to superior customer service and quality care. Handle patients' protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA standards. Anticipate the needs of the clinician and carry out their orders efficiently. Check and manage patients' arrival status, escorting them from the waiting area to exam rooms and to ancillary services as necessary. Obtain and document vital signs and pertinent patient information for review by RN, LVN, or clinician. Perform medical procedures and administer medications as appropriate for your certification. Carry out phlebotomy, process lab specimens, and maintain specimen logs accordingly. Assist clinicians with procedures as needed, ensuring all procedures are documented accurately. Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam and treatment areas, specimen processing areas, and medical equipment. Complete or assist with necessary forms, tracking, and transportation tasks. Required Qualifications: High School diploma or GED. Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience. BLS certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire. Preferred Qualifications: 1+ years of experience in an ambulatory care setting or military experience as a Medical Assistant/EMT. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR). Experience in primary or specialty care such as pediatrics, pain management, cardiology, urology, orthopedics, oncology, senior care, OBGYN, or urgent care. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Willingness to travel to various OptumCare clinic locations as needed. Compensation is based on various factors including local labor markets, experience, and certifications.
