Prepare and review technical documentation such as System Requirements Documents, System Design Descriptions, Interface Control Documents, and Engineering Design Specifications.
Analyze and apply nuclear codes, standards, and regulatory criteria to I&C designs.
Provide technical oversight for suppliers, ensuring quality deliverables and adherence to design requirements.
Collaborate with procurement, licensing, safety analysis, and PRA teams for cross-functional design integration.
Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance design processes and apply nuclear industry best practices.
Specify instrumentation measurement techniques for advanced reactor and high-temperature systems, evaluating accuracy, range, and response time.
Interface with licensing activities and Safety Analysis Reports.
Qualifications:
B.S. or higher in Controls, Electrical, or related engineering discipline.
18+ years of direct experience in instrumentation and controls systems (advanced degrees may count toward experience).
Proven track record in I&C development, diagnostics, and implementation.
Prior experience with nuclear reactor safety systems or nuclear instrumentation design.
Familiarity with applicable nuclear quality standards (e.g., 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1) and IEEE standards (379, 603, 7-4.3.2, 497).
Experience with high-temperature (400°C+) process design preferred.
Knowledge of process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping & instrument diagrams (P&IDs), and CAD tools such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks preferred.
Strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and lead design efforts with minimal supervision.
Experience with I&C system startup testing procedures a plus.
Desired Additional Experience (2+ years in one or more):
