Description:
The Warehouse Operations Shift Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of warehouse activities. This position involves leading a dedicated team responsible for shipping, receiving, materials handling, and clerical tasks. Key responsibilities include overseeing staff performance, maintaining the integrity of raw materials and finished goods, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards, managing costs effectively, identifying risks, and fostering continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Provide strong leadership and motivation to warehouse employees, ensuring a safe, efficient, and cost-effective workplace.
Supervise a team of shippers, receivers, material handlers, and inventory clerks responsible for the logistics of raw materials and finished goods.
Understand all warehouse roles to offer support where necessary, troubleshoot ERP or system problems, and analyze workflow for improvements.
Engage professionally and collaboratively with all departments, customers, and vendors.
Ensure inventory accuracy by conducting regular counts of raw materials and finished goods, preparing reports, and devising preventive measures.
Communicate effectively with other shifts for seamless operational transitions.
Collaborate closely with EHS and other departments to establish and maintain effective safety programs and promote a culture of health and safety.
Uphold the highest ethical standards in all business activities in compliance with the Canadian Solar Code of Business Conduct.
Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Perform additional duties as needed to ensure operational success.
Qualifications and Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of warehouse management experience in a high-volume environment.
Proven logistics experience for local, national, and international operations.
Proficient in MS Office and experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
Strong understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Inventory Management practices.
Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and the ability to thrive under pressure.
Excellent communication skills for engaging with staff at all organizational levels.
Highly organized, energetic, and a collaborative team player.
Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
Forklift certification is a plus.
