Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU)
at
Kindred Hospital Sugar Land
is a standout feature of the facility, offering focused inpatient rehab for patients recovering from serious illness or injury. Here are the key highlights: Specialized Rehab Programs
: Tailored for individuals recovering from stroke, brain or spinal cord injury, orthopedic trauma, neurological conditions, or amputation. The goal is to restore independence and function. Modern Facilities
: The ARU includes 11 newly renovated private rooms, a state-of-the-art rehab gym, and dedicated spaces for dining and activities-all designed to create a comfortable, home-like environment. Therapy Intensity
: Patients receive at least 15 hours of therapy per week, guided by a multidisciplinary team under the direction of a physiatrist (a doctor specializing in rehab medicine). Seamless Transition
: Because the ARU is located within Kindred Hospital Sugar Land, patients can move directly from long-term acute care to rehabilitation without transferring to a different facility. Outdoor Mobility Areas
: The hospital includes outdoor spaces where patients can practice walking and meet with family, supporting both physical and emotional recovery. As a

How you'll contribute: Evaluates and treats patient populations for swallowing, speech-language and therapy needs.
Performs and documents initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
Designs and implements a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient and family.
Educates and counsels patients and families regarding treatment plans and progress.
Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services.
Supervises activities of clinical fellows, students, and other support personnel.
Qualifications and requirements: Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology Required
Licensed Speech Therapist; Current licensure with State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire
