Bulfinch Temporary Service is currently looking for Unit Coordinators for MGH. This position is for candidates who can work a flexible schedule and gain experience on various units. There are needs for day, evening and overnight shifts during the week and weekend. Candidates’ schedules can be arranged around school, second jobs, etc. Minimum schedule requirement:

a minimum of 3 shifts per week or 2 shifts on the weekend. Responsibilities

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Under the general direction of the Nursing Director, the Unit Coordinator (UC) provides administrative support to unit-based and hospital-wide clinicians and staff in an inpatient unit, functioning as the liaison between the patient, visitors and the clinicians. The UC organizes priorities, completes tasks on time, and manages confidential patient information. The UC coordinates day-to-day patient flow in collaboration with nursing, including communication regarding admissions, discharges and transfers. The UC delivers outstanding service for every customer interaction. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Communication and Customer Service: greet and interact with patients, families, visitors and coworkers in a professional manner; respond to and/ or triage requests; escort patients when appropriate; receive, prioritize, organize and manage information at the central nursing station and unit; facilitate effective communication using telephone, paging, patient call system, fax, computer, and handheld devices; support and resolve processes related to securing patient belongings; schedule consultations, tests, procedures, and patient transport; ensure admission packets are available; maintain patient confidentiality; monitor Patient Acuity system and send reminders to staff; schedule discharge follow-up appointments. Medications and Laboratory Support: assist with securing and storage of medications; use pneumatic tube to send/receive medications; assemble medications for transferring patients; return unneeded medications to Pharmacy. Patient Record Management: enter admissions, discharges and transfers into the electronic medical record; maintain patient records for ready access and compliance; file/scan medical record components; document admissions, transfers, referrals and discharges; monitor fax transmissions; assist during information system downtime. Environment of Care: coordinate equipment, services and supplies; manage inventories; maintain compliance with Environment of Care Standards; maintain cleanliness and order; manage conference room bookings; track equipment and ensure infection control signs are posted; adhere to hospital security policies for secured units. Professional Responsibilities: participate in continuing education, attend trainings, support quality improvement initiatives, assist in staff orientation, comply with policies, adhere to timekeeping and dress code, perform other tasks as necessary. Education & Experience

Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or higher preferred. Experience: Previous customer service and health care setting experience preferred; proficiency with MS Windows and good keyboard skills preferred. Work Conditions
