As the Core Data and Resource Auth Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a team focused on enabling data connectivity and usage across Retool. You’ll ensure users can connect, manage, and utilize data from a wide range of sources to build powerful internal tools. Your team will help make every Retool customer effectively a Core Data customer by solving data connectivity, abstraction, and integration challenges. You will: Lead and scale an engineering team to deliver backend data connectivity features and data-source integrations. Balance day-to-day execution with longer-term product direction, building resilient infrastructure and guiding feature development. Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align data capabilities with customer needs and platform strategy. Foster a strong engineering culture focused on outcomes, accountability, and high standards. We value leaders who own outcomes, inspire teams, and continually improve the environment for engineers. 5+ years of experience leading and scaling successful engineering teams. Deep technical understanding; coding isn’t required, but you should navigate our codebase and contribute to design and architecture discussions. A bias toward impactful goals with a track record of setting strategic direction aligned with engineering objectives; customer and product focus. Strong decision-making skills, balancing speed and quality, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. A product-oriented approach to engineering, prioritizing user needs and impactful solutions; ability to guide macro process changes with clear outcomes. Thoughtfulness about engineering culture, process, and identity; adept at navigating ambiguity, managing stakeholders, and driving accountability. Deep alignment with Retool’s mission and a drive to build tools that enable good software for everyone.
