Job Title : UNION Assistant Chief Engineer Job Description Summary Responsible to assist the Chief Engineer with the planning, implementation, coordination, and supervision of mechanical operations, maintenance, communications, energy management, and manpower development programs for assigned properties. The Assistant Chief Engineer will perform at the highest of ethical standards, reflecting the core values of Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) as defined in its Business Code of Conduct, Policies and Procedures Manual, and other related company policies. The position typically requires hands-on operational duties, maintenance work, and is not precluded from performing Watch Activity. Job Description

Responsibilities

Supervise maintenance staff in the absence of the Chief Engineer and assign and monitor maintenance projects.

Assist with maintenance/engineering issues (plumbing, HVAC, electrical) as required.

Remain proficient in the C&W Engineering Standards and all operational aspects of building systems.

Provide quality assurance by creating and implementing preventive maintenance programs and recommending improvements to existing programs on an ongoing basis.

Develop/maintain effective building-specific maintenance and safety procedure manuals.

Coordinate/Conduct staff training.

Complete all mandatory C&W Compliance Training, including the Annual Safety Training Program, and direct staff subordinates to do so as well.

Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors and technicians.

Conduct regular inspections of operating mechanical, electrical, and equipment systems; make necessary adjustments to operating equipment and controls.

Conduct periodic inspections of mechanical equipment rooms and work areas to ensure clean and safe conditions are maintained.

Ensure all mechanical equipment, systems, and electrical distribution are properly identified, labeled, color-coded and/or tagged as required, and that mechanical rooms are painted.

Respond quickly to emergency situations (e.g., fire, evacuation, equipment failure) and customer concerns.

Maintain ongoing communication with tenants, clients, property management, and vendors.

Assist with the administration of inventory control programs and systems.

Coordinate development of and/or maintain as-built drawings and equipment manuals.

Participate in and provide input for maintenance staff’s year-end reviews conducted by the Chief Engineer.

Prepare and maintain engineering reports.

Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency requirements, and company directives related to building operations.

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Experience

5+ years of related work experience in a commercial property setting

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Vocational/Technical Training Certificate

Appropriate license/permit for trade as may be required, e.g., Journeyman or Master Electrician License or City Licenses

Certification as a Universal Technician for CFCs

Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record

Proficient in the use of computer systems

May be the only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts; may be required to work extended periods without relief during priority/emergency situations; may require shift work and/or on-call duties

Basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel & Word

Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. Regular travel between properties in varying weather conditions may be required.

Physical Demands

Ability to stoop, stand, climb, frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment and safely install rigging/lifting devices

Regularly crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine

Move between departments, floors, and properties to facilitate work

Speak clearly so others can understand you

Read and understand information presented orally and in writing

Read printed material, drawings, and schematics

Cushman & Wakefield offers a comprehensive benefits package and competitive pay. The compensation for this position is $45.20 - $53.18, dependent on location and qualifications. The company is an Equal Opportunity employer.
