We are hiring for the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis to lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy across the organization. Job Summary
The Director of FP&A will be responsible for the annual budget, rolling forecasts, variance to actual analysis, KPI tracking, management reporting, and new business case analysis. This role supports resource allocations, business planning, product strategy, and key investment decisions. The Director will partner with leaders across multiple business units and the executive team, and will articulate the company\'s financial strategy to investors and other external stakeholders. We are seeking a candidate who can bring a fresh perspective on resource efficiency and prioritization. Essential Responsibilities
Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and monthly close processes for all business units. Partner with the accounting team on monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including managing expense accruals, management reporting, and variance analysis. Update the rolling forecast with inputs for headcount, non-headcount, and capital expenditures; collaborate with business partners to ensure accuracy and achievability. Analyze financial and operational results to report on KPIs, variance to forecast, and variance to budget, including root cause analysis. Prepare and present financial results, risks, and opportunities to business partners and the Senior Leadership Team using professional reports and visuals. Collaborate with leaders to align resource allocation with company strategy; provide creative alternatives to improve prioritization. Act as a trusted financial advisor to business partners and the executive team. Drive continuous improvement of financial processes and systems to support a growing business. Develop financial projections, pro forma statements, and analyses (e.g., NPV, breakeven, make vs. buy, payback) for new business cases and investor presentations. Identify strategic drivers and develop scenario-based forecasts based on their impacts. Communicate insights and plans to cross-functional teams, with data-backed recommendations. Provide guidance and team development for direct reports as needed. Stay current on FP&A industry best practices. Monitor market trends, competitor actions, technological advancements, and industry regulations to identify opportunities and threats. Qualifications and Experience
Required
10+ years of relevant experience with increasing levels of responsibility and people leadership experience Bachelor\'s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field In-depth proficiency in accounting/finance and knowledge of US GAAP Ability to present financial information to a non-financial audience Strong project management and organizational skills Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills Strong Excel skills and ability to create functional and scalable models Superior communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to foster collaboration across departments Ability to manage tight deadlines in a dynamic, growing environment Desire to learn and continuously improve processes and deliverables Demonstrated ability to grow and mentor team members Experience with startup or high-growth companies, particularly in R&D intensive/deep tech businesses Ability to travel, if required Desirable
MBA and/or CPA Experience in finance for software development functions Experience with planning & reporting systems such as NetSuite or Hyperion Knowledge of the autonomous vehicle industry Physical Requirements
