Overview

Research Coordinator role at Northeastern University in the Speech Motor Impairment and Learning (SMILe) Lab, directed by Dr. Kristen Allison. This is a full-time position with a minimum one-year commitment, with possible reappointment based on performance and funding. The lab’s research aims to improve assessment and treatment of motor speech disorders in children. The Research Coordinator will work directly with Dr. Allison to oversee execution of various research tasks as part of a multi-site study focused on validating a clinical tool for improving diagnosis of pediatric motor speech disorders. Responsibilities include recruitment and scheduling of participants, developing documentation of research protocols, conducting data collection sessions in the lab and at off-campus sites (e.g., preschools, homes), data management and database maintenance, assisting with analysis of speech data, managing workflow in the lab, and coordinating with other project sites. The project coordinator will have opportunities to work with undergraduate and graduate students and to collaborate on publications and presentations.

Responsibilities

Recruitment and scheduling of participants

Develop documentation of research protocols

Run data collection sessions in the lab and at off-campus sites (e.g., preschools, homes)

Data management and database maintenance

Assist with analysis of speech data

Manage workflow in the lab and coordinate with other project sites

Collaborate with undergraduate and graduate students; contribute to publications and presentations

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders, psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, or related field required. A Master’s degree (MA/MS) is desirable but not required.

Experience with human subjects research is preferred.

Strong computer and organizational skills; high attention to detail; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and with others in a complex, demanding research environment.

Must enjoy interacting with young children and be comfortable communicating with families.

Compensation Compensation Grade/Pay Type: 106S Expected Hiring Range: $47,890.00 - $65,848.75 Note: With the pay range shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors including education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills, as well as a pay comparison to similarly situated employees. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
