Seurat Technologies
Seurat is transforming manufacturing for people and our planet by delivering a scalable additive manufacturing solution to fundamentally change how products are made. Seurat’s proprietary Area Printing process, developed at Lawrence Livermore National Labs (LLNL), allows metal components to be manufactured at price points and quality levels that compete directly with conventional manufacturing techniques, enabling the reshoring of supply chains and promoting the decarbonization of industry. Seurat has raised over $180M and is backed by leading venture partners like Capricorn, NVentures (NVIDIA), True Ventures, General Motors Ventures, Denso, Porsche SE, SIP global partners, Honda, Xerox Ventures/Myriad Venture Partners, Cubit Capital, Siemens Energy, and Maniv Mobility.
Looking for a talented and self-motivated Scientist with a strong engineering background to help produce our revolutionary liquid crystal-based electro-optic patterning devices. This is an excellent opportunity to grow with the company and establish the methods and procedures that will be in place as we scale to production. Liquid crystal, chemistry, and optics backgrounds preferred, with a strong formal background in the processing, development, and testing of liquid crystal for electro-optical applications. The role involves all aspects of characterizing an electro-optic device, from incoming raw materials to system validation, as well as leading the continuous improvement cycle. The ideal candidate combines practical, hands-on experience in liquid crystal formulation, characterization, and quality control, with a focus on continuous improvement. We need someone with experience in electro-optics and liquid crystal display technologies, who will accelerate our path to process controls.
Qualifications:
Experience with processing, development, and testing of liquid crystals for electro-optical applications.
Experience with liquid crystal characterization and modeling
Experience with ASIC design
Demonstrated success with improvement cycle: from root cause analysis to corrective action
Experience with optics technologies, including imaging, illumination, and physical optics
Experience with electrical characterization: impedance analyzers or IV Curve Tracers
Experience with signal generation & measurement: time & frequency domain characterization
Familiarity with optical materials and coatings, as well as their manufacturing techniques
Highly organized with attention to detail
Effective communication, both verbal and written.
Must be able to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Requirements:
Master’s or PhD. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, EE, Physics, Optics, or related field
BS with 5+ years of experience in related fields
Travel requirement up to 15%.
Preferred Experiences:
Semiconductor fab. processing
Basic wet bench chemistry
Opto-mechanical and electronic device testing, especially test automation and data analysis
Design of diagnostic optical fixtures, Optics concepts (esp. polarization)
Thin Film Metrology: especially model-fitting techniques e.g. Spectral Reflectance
Polarization, petrology, and Nomarski DIC (Differential interference contrast) microscopy
