The County Medical Director will strategically design and enhance patient care delivery within our healthcare system by implementing innovative approaches to care team formation and patient allocation. Reporting directly to the Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO), this position oversees multiple clinics across the county, ensuring optimal utilization of clinical resources and improved patient outcomes. By leveraging interdisciplinary care teams and innovative patient allocation strategies, the role aims to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities
Leadership and Vision : Provide strategic leadership to drive growth and development in underserved medical needs within a designated county. Develop and forecast long-term plans (three to five year planning) to enhance healthcare delivery and meet community needs. Team Management : Manage a medical team of Clinician Leaders, including Senior Regional Medical Leads and Associate Regional Medical Leads. Establish interdisciplinary care teams of Medical Doctors and Advanced Practice Providers, including a per diem provider pool, to optimize patient care across clinics. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Operational Optimization : Collaborate with the operations team to establish workflows that optimize clinician efficiency and patient care outcomes. Design and implement strategies to streamline processes and reduce inefficiencies. Care Team Development : Create multidisciplinary care teams, allocate patients based on clinical complexity, and establish systems to assess patient panels. Provide guidance on allocation protocols to ensure complex cases are managed by physicians and routine visits by advanced practice providers. Conduct training on team-based care models and utilization of resources. Utilization Management Oversight : Oversee the clinical component of utilization management, collaborating with teams to optimize resource use and promote evidence-based care. Workflow Management : Evaluate workflows to ensure continuity of care, develop standard protocols, and enhance coordination among team members. Direct Care : Administer or prescribe treatments, discuss potential side effects, promote preventive health measures, refer to specialists as needed, and follow up on high-risk or emergency cases. Conduct physical examinations for admissions, job considerations, or insurance purposes. Education/Experience
Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution required Valid CA Medical and DEA License required Board certification in a medical specialty required Valid BLS certification from an American Heart Association provider required on hire Seven years’ clinical experience in primary care or relevant specialty Experience in higher-level leadership roles within a healthcare organization Additional qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
Excellent verbal and written communication; strong composition, typing, and proofreading skills Ability to interpret diverse instructions Knowledge of healthcare operations and workflow optimization Commitment to serving underserved populations and addressing healthcare disparities Strategic thinking and ability to drive innovation in healthcare delivery Multitasking, planning, and organizational skills Ability to work with teams and independently; handle confidential information professionally Physical requirements

$302,700 - $514,600 per year depending on experience. (DOE) Compensation Disclosure:
The posted salary range reflects the designated pay grade for this position. Actual compensation will be based on factors including knowledge, skills, experience, market data, internal equity, budget, and organizational needs.
