Job Title : Medical Laboratory Scientist II Department : Chemistry Shift : Evening Shift, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM Essential Functions

As Training Personnel defined by CLIA, after orientation, training and competency assessment on all instruments/methods applicable to the role, the Medical Laboratory Scientist II may perform waived and non-waived testing. Under general supervision, this role carries out policies and tests in accordance with the department's standard operating procedures, works independently to ensure accurate results and records, and applies professional knowledge to interpret test results used by providers to diagnose and treat diseases. As General Supervisor defined by CLIA, the Medical Laboratory Scientist II may be delegated day-to-day supervision of laboratory operations and personnel performing testing and reporting results. Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager and Clinical Supervisors, responsibilities include supervision of assigned workstations, Quality Control (QC) review, staff training and competency assessment, and inventory management. Responsibilities also include specimen processing, test performance, and reporting results. Individuals perform only tests authorized by the laboratory director and appropriate to their education, training, and experience. Patient Care : No Qualifications

Education Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Bachelor's Degree in Laboratory Sciences, plus other required certificates/diplomas. Licenses and Credentials Medical Technologist (ASCP) — ASCP-BOC required (MLT, MT, MLA, Histologists). Experience Laboratory experience 1-2 years required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Understanding of laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, analytic techniques. Ability to work independently, evaluate situations, and act appropriately. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and adherence to written protocols; able to communicate with supervisors as issues are identified. Ability to work as a team member and interact professionally with staff, physicians, hospital personnel, and patients. Basic knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation requirements.
