An elite academic medical center in Long Island is seeking an experienced

Clinical Perfusionist

to join a nationally recognized team supporting high-acuity transplant and cardiac procedures. This position offers an opportunity to be part of one of the

largest and most progressive perfusion programs in the Northeast , known for its cutting-edge technology, clinical excellence, and strong interdisciplinary collaboration.

Position Highlights:

Work alongside a team of skilled cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, and fellow perfusionists in a

state-of-the-art surgical suite .

Be part of a program performing

hundreds of complex adult and pediatric cases annually , including transplant, ECMO, and mechanical circulatory support.

Access to

advanced perfusion technologies

and equipment supporting both routine and high-risk procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and manage the

heart-lung machine

and

extracorporeal circulation equipment

during open-heart and transplant procedures.

Assemble, prime, test, and maintain perfusion circuits prior to bypass initiation.

Adjust perfusion parameters based on patient physiology throughout procedures.

Administer medications, blood components, and anesthetic agents via the extracorporeal circuit.

Perform

advanced blood therapies

including PRP, platelet gel, hemofiltration, and autotransfusion.

Monitor and observe equipment operation, obtain intraoperative blood samples, and ensure all safety and quality standards are upheld.

Disassemble and clean perfusion equipment post-procedure.

Maintain adequate inventory and supplies in coordination with internal departments.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree

in a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

ABCP Certification

and

New York State Licensure

required.

1–3 years of clinical perfusion experience , ideally with transplant and ECMO exposure.

Strong clinical judgment and the ability to adapt in dynamic, high-pressure environments.

Flexible with scheduling to accommodate surgical needs.
