Store Manager
role at Walgreens. Customer Experience
Monitors and analyzes the customer service provided by team members. Offers reminders, training, and encouragement, and develops action plans for improvement in both retail and pharmacy. Greets customers and clinic patients, and offers assistance with products and services. Models and shares customer service best practices to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer and patient experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits. Resolves customer complaints and helps respond to customers’ special needs. Operations
Supervises operation of the store and pharmacy, including opening/closing/changing shifts, task delegation and scheduling team members. Supervises cash handling, bookkeeping, and related financial controls. Supervises merchandising, sets, resets, and promotional space planning. Analyzes inventory trends and supervises inventory management and stock control. Supervises receiving, stocking, pricing, returns, and transfers of merchandise. Ensures execution of District Manager operational feedback. Manages store organization through hiring, scheduling, and delegation; ensures the store and grounds are clean and presentable; handles repairs and emergencies. Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including sale of alcohol, tobacco, fresh food, and pharmacy products. Ensures staff have working knowledge of computer and technology systems and promptly addresses system issues with IT support. Complies with company policies and maintains respectful relationships with coworkers. Daily Planning and Execution
Assigns daily operational responsibilities, sets expectations for store team members and assistant managers. Business Performance Management
Analyses financial and performance data; develops action plans to increase sales and control costs. Reviews KPIs daily and prepares to discuss with district management. Reviews and analyzes asset protection data and develops action plans to reduce loss. Analyses pharmacy performance indicators and collaborates with the pharmacy manager to enhance performance; may serve as a pharmacy technician where allowed by law. Analyzes clinic performance indicators and coordinates with Clinic Coordinator/Manager to ensure performance and support. Business Planning
Identifies sales opportunities to grow store and pharmacy performance. Manages inventory levels, including ordering, stocking, liquidating stock, and anticipating fast-selling items and seasonal changes. People and Performance Management
Manages team performance through assigning responsibilities, setting goals, providing feedback and recognizing achievement; manages employee career progression. Ensures timely completion of required training programs, including pharmacy training programs; provides coaching. Makes hiring, promotion, and termination decisions; addresses issues and disciplines as appropriate. Develops performance plans and follows up on deadlines; monitors and approves team member compensation. Promotes teamwork, motivates staff, and ensures open communication between management and non-management team members. Ensures compliance with corporate policies and employment laws; treats all team members fairly. Training and Personal Development
Participates in company and on-the-job training and Walgreens School of Operations; completes required training within six months in Store Manager position. Follows performance improvement plans offered by District Management. Obtains pharmacy technician registration/licensure as required by state law and pursues relevant certifications where applicable. Engages in self-development and continuous learning about retail and management, including pharmacy aspects. Communications
Serves as a liaison between district, corporate, and the store; responds to requests and implements initiatives. Conducts community outreach and assists District Manager in planning community events. Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of retail management experience, or high school diploma/GED and 5 years of retail management experience. Licensed pharmacy technician as required by state, or pharmacy assistant in WA state, or licensed RPh as soon as possible per state requirements (no later than 12 months from start date). Willingness to work a flexible schedule including extended days, evenings, and weekends. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree. PTCB or ExCPT Certification. Three years of retail management experience, including supervising others and managing workloads. Licensed pharmacy technician as required by state, or pharmacy assistant in WA state, or licensed RPh. We will consider employment of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
