Major/Essential Functions

Performs as a responsible and cooperative team member. Adheres to institutional standards of ethics and professional conduct. On time for appointment and meetings. Considerate of workspace and time of other staff. Maintains confidences regarding personal lives of colleagues. Maintains a responsible, task-oriented demeanor on the job. Communicates with others in a respectful, courteous manner. Adheres to dress code. Responsible for accurate and timely submission of Web leave reporting. Responsible for accurately monitoring own leave with supervisor.

Assesses patients to determine general mental health and prescribes treatment with treatment teams’ input and administers medication or other treatment as needed. Assesses patients for common forensic issues such as civil commitment, decisional capacity, compelled medication, etc. and participates in their respective legal processes. Refers patients to medical specialist or practitioner for specialized treatment.

Takes call to ensure there is continuous psychiatric coverage for the correctional health facility.

Inspects, completes and analyzes records, assigns, reviews and updates classifications; completes admission notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries; and makes rounds on patients admitted (if applicable). Provides clinical oversight of clinical activities in accordance with the unit’s treatment program and guidelines.

Advanced-Practice Providers (APP) Clinical Consultation: Provides clinical guidance on diagnostic, treatment, or other clinical questions that may arise. APP supervision. Mental Health Clinician Consultation: Provides clinical guidance on diagnostic, treatment, or other clinical questions that may arise.

Attends Treatment Team meetings as scheduled and as needed. Attends administrative and clinical committee meetings as needed.

Qualifications

Approved Residency training in Psychiatry

Board Eligible/Board Certified in Psychiatry and 2-4 years experience

2-4 years' experience preferred in a correctional clinical setting

Prior experience working at Montgomery County Jail

Required Qualifications Education/Experience: Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) or equivalent plus 3 years related experience/training or equivalent combination of education and experience. License/Certifications: State Medical license. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) controlled substances registration certificates.
