Description: Overview: This position is responsible for the purchasing of responsible commodities in an industrial environment to support production and related cross-functional teams. Work includes meeting with suppliers, reviewing requests, creating commodity strategies, creating request for quote packages, sourcing suppliers to meet budget and program timing, ensuring suppliers understand (and comply to) flowed-down security and other requirements, analyzing pricing, comparing specifications, and expediting materials. Skills: Ability to negotiate effectively, high energy, good communication, functional understanding of material properties and machining/processing/finishing methodologies, and cross-functional team skills.Personal Qualities: High energy, expeditious, and ethical, optimistic/ready to help, and customer focused. Preferences: CPSM certification a plus. Experience in industrial materials/metals fabrication a plus.Authority: Buyers have the authority to purchase within their signature authority level and guidelines at the most competitive total cost and within the quantity and delivery objectives of the company.RELEVANCE AND IMPORTANCE OF POSITION TO QUALITY OBJECTIVES: The quality objectives of supplied product on time deliveries and quality are dependent to a large extent on this position. As the direct contact to the supplier, this position is responsible for communicating any concerns related to these objectives and following up on their resolution. Another objective is to keep costs as low as possible (including purchased item and expedite costs). The price, quality, and on-time delivery of the equipment we sell to our customers is directly affected by the supplied materials going into them.

Requirements: Education: 4 Year bachelors’ degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related technical field/ equivalent experience.Experience: 3 years’ minimum in Purchasing/Supply Chain role in a manufacturing environment.Specific Duties*: Responsible for negotiating all contracts, pricing, and issues with suppliers. Research, identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers to meet strategies & production requirements. Work with cross-functional teams to create requests for quotation and statements of work for items required. Conduct analysis on supplier quotes and competitively source lowest Total Cost Suppliers. Ensure reasonableness and detail of expedite and other emergent costs borne by Keel or customers (including ‘cost-plus’ customers). Place Purchase Orders for the purchase of goods and services. Negotiate short and long-term strategic sourcing agreements with suppliers. Interview suppliers and evaluate their products and capabilities. Manage and improve supplier relationships. Objectives: Accountable for all pricing, terms, quality and delivery of responsible commodities.Environment: Typical office setting, some time spent on the shop floor.Physical Demands: Some medium lifting, no more than 40 lbs. without assistance. Frequent computer usage. Hours: Salaried position. Standard work schedule is 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., additional time may be required to perform her or his responsibilities as the projects may dictate to complete tasks or as directed by management.Travel: Up to 15% including routine supplier visits and travel between Keel facilities.
