Overview
The
Director, Alumni Support Services
is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the Naval Academy Alumni Association's comprehensive alumni support initiatives. This role entails spearheading internal career programs designed to assist alumni at various stages of their professional journey, from job preparation to successful placement. The Director provides career search counseling, develops informational resources, and integrates cutting-edge online career transition platforms. Additionally, the position involves serving as the Naval Academy representative at the Service Academy Career Conference, coordinating with corporate hiring professionals, and overseeing the Alumni Mentoring Program. The Director plays a strategic role in program development that supports alumni life, including health resources, spousal support, and continuing education. This multifaceted role demands a leader who is committed to the empowerment and success of the alumni community.
Reporting and Status The Director, Alumni Support Services reports to the Senior Director, Engagement and Outreach Programs. This is an exempt position.
Location This position is based in historic Annapolis at our current offices located next to the grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy. In 2023, the staff of the Alumni Association & Foundation moved into the new Fluegel Alumni Center, which was built on the banks of College Creek overlooking the Naval Academy and downtown Annapolis.

Compensation and Benefits We hire the best and offer competitive pay, generous benefits, opportunities for career development, and a positive work experience. This position pays a competitive salary, commensurate with experience, and may be eligible for an annual performance-based bonus where applicable. Major Duties and Responsibilities Program Management of:
Career Services
Leads the Alumni Association's internal career programs for alumni focusing on helping graduates prepare for and win jobs at every stage of their professional journey.
Provides alumni members preparation and counseling in career development.
Develops career information resources including webinars, group counseling sessions, small career events, and job-coaching sessions.
Researches latest trends and incorporates effective online career/job transition programs/platforms, interfacing with corporate hiring and talent acquisition professionals.
Nurtures local/regional joint service academy or Navy-centric business networking.
Provides counseling and guidance to approved midshipmen in a "Graduate Not Commission (GNC)" status.
Serves as the Naval Academy liaison at the Service Academy Career Interfaces with corporate hiring and talent acquisition professionals.
Coordinates and markets career service topics in all Engagement Division lines of work: classes, chapters, parent clubs, SIGs, etc.
Develops and executes annual operational plans and related activities.
Alumni Mentoring Program
Serves as Program Manager for the Alumni Association AMP (Alumni Mentoring Program).
Markets the AMP program to alumni and midshipmen and encourages alumni participation.
Develops other coaching and mentorship programs that fully support our alumni.
Alumni Support Services
Researches, develops, implements, and executes programming that supports our alumni through all facets of life, including health-related resources and webinars, spousal support, continuing education, entrepreneurship support, and other programs to meet alumni demand signals.
Minimum Qualifications
College Degree from an accredited college or equivalent work experience.
5-7 years of experience with proven success in executive leadership and management in civilian, government and/or military settings.
Proven expertise in career counseling and job/career transition services, including experience in corporate talent management or talent acquisition fields.
In-depth knowledge of current practices, processes, and trends in national and local civilian and governmental career/job opportunities and placement, with emphasis on veteran-centric programs.
Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to draft, manage and execute multiple diverse operations/programs, plans and initiatives.
Current awareness of advanced education opportunities (MBA and technical degree programs, professional fellowships, and other certification programs), particularly those with veteran-centric programs.
Ability to travel approximately 10-20 days per year.
Energy, work ethic, stamina, and enthusiasm.
Preferred Qualifications
U.S. Naval Academy graduate (preferred).
Experience in a structured, metrics-driven program(s).
Military experience, including military transition experience (specifically officer transition).
Knowledge of current Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation practices.
Familiarity with the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
Experience with Blackbaud CRM, Concur, and Questica platforms/programs.
Demonstrated affiliation/interaction with the Alumni Association and/or Foundation.
