DSHS BHHA Forensic Psychologist – in State. Are you interested in the intersection of psychology and the law? Join a team that provides psycholegal evaluations for the courts in Washington state. Roles are part of two regional divisions and involve conducting evaluations in King County Correctional Facility (KCFC) and related settings. The incumbent will provide expert testimony, conduct testing, and prepare reports that meet statutory requirements. These positions involve conducting forensic evaluations inside KCFC, including competency to stand trial and criminal responsibility evaluations. You will provide expert testimony for courts pursuant to RCW 10.77 and perform psychological testing as needed for evaluations and reporting to the courts. Applicants must be willing to relocate within commuting distance to KCFC in Seattle, WA. In-person work is required, with potential for flexible/hybrid work models. King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the base salary and are eligible for a free ORCA card for transportation. The Office of Forensic Mental Health Services (OFMHS) oversees Washington’s adult forensic mental health system and supports the mission to transform forensic mental health by partnering with community stakeholders to assist individuals involved with the criminal justice system. You will work in a collegial, collaborative environment focused on applying psychological expertise within the court system. Forensic evaluators may earn additional compensation (extra duty pay) for evaluations outside normal hours. Some responsibilities you will perform include: Complete forensic evaluations focused on competency to stand trial and related mental state at the time of the offense. Collaborate with forensic evaluators across the state of Washington. Prepare for and provide expert witness testimony as requested or subpoenaed by courts. Submit forensic evaluation reports to the court with analysis and psycholegal opinions.
