Ranked as one of the nation’s Best Children’s Hospitals in seven specialties by U.S. News & World Report in 2021-22 , we’re seeking motivated candidates to join the experienced team of nocturnists at Valley Children’s Healthcare’s main campus in Madera, California. Board certification/eligibility in pediatrics is required. Fellowship training or board certification/eligibility via the practice pathway in pediatric hospital medicine is welcomed but not required for consideration. This position provides the opportunity to work with a diverse group of learners through the Valley Children’s Pediatric Residency Program, affiliated with Stanford University School of Medicine. The Division of Hospital Medicine includes approximately 40 pediatric hospitalists providing coverage to the 330-bed free-standing children’s hospital that sits on a 50-acre campus, just outside of Fresno with the Sierra Nevada mountains in view. Responsible for nearly fifty percent of the inpatient admissions, this seasoned team is made up of board certified physicians with an average of 7-10 years of experience. Members of the division hold many organizational leadership roles, and opportunities for career development and advancement within the division and institution abound. In addition, members of the division are active in medical education, quality improvement, advocacy and research activities. Developed in 2012, the Valley Children’s nocturnist program currently includes 14 physicians. Three nocturnists provide overnight coverage for hospital medicine patients as well as some sub-specialty cross coverage and code lead responsibilities. The opportunity to transition from nocturnist to daytime coverage is available, if desired.
