Overview
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Kansas School of Medicine—Wichita seeks a full-time faculty member in Pediatric Nephrology. The candidate must have a MD or DO degree and be board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Nephrology. This position offers the opportunity to provide nephrology expertise to the state of Kansas and join a diverse team of pediatric specialists. Ambulatory clinic and inpatient consultation will occur primarily with Wesley Children’s Hospital, with support for pediatric patients hospitalized in the community. The successful candidate will have an interest in academic medicine, support for graduate medical education in Pediatrics and related programs, and will be the first pediatric nephrologist in the department, with opportunities to impact underserved and rural populations. Service calls will be supported in collaboration with regional partners as the program develops.
Responsibilities
Patient Care – 90%: Provide direct outpatient care for infants, children, and adolescents; provide inpatient consultations in collaboration with hospitalists and critical care teams; collaborate with pediatric subspecialists to deliver integrated care; participate in quality improvement and patient safety activities; maintain board certification in pediatrics and in pediatric nephrology; seek opportunities to collaborate with community and hospital partners.
Teaching and Scholarly Activities – 10%: Educate and supervise residents, medical students, and allied health trainees; assist with nephrology residency curriculum development; participate in scholarly activities meeting ACGME core faculty criteria (publications, presentations, curriculum development, and leadership roles).
