This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of LBMC. The employee will support LBMC's strategic plan and Lean initiatives for continuous performance improvement, patient safety and patient-centered care. The Assistant Unit Manager (AUM) is responsible for operational issues of the patient care department during the assigned shift and for directing and coordinating all department operations according to policies, procedures, standards and standard work. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individuals and processes to ensure high-quality, cost-effective patient care. The AUM manages materials and labor resources as defined in the departmental annual budget. The success of the department relies on professional communication with patients, families, physicians, and interdepartmental staff to optimize workflow and resolve issues. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Model an interdisciplinary approach and collaborate with physician partners to achieve operational efficiency. Support MemorialCare initiatives and promote the advancement of the nursing profession. Foster employee engagement, loyalty and lead by example. Provide clinical and administrative leadership to create a supportive, healthy work environment. Embrace a Lean mindset and use the plan-do-study-act (PDSA) cycle for performance improvement. Foster a culture of safety by assessing, intervening and evaluating outcomes. Create an environment that supports service excellence and the Patient and Family Experience. Help ensure accountability to meet financial targets through daily management activities. Promote organizational excellence and growth and support Journey to Nursing Excellence. Perform other duties as assigned. *Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications/Work Experience
3+ years of experience in an area of similar clinical expertise. Supervisor and/or nursing leadership experience is preferred. Education/Licensure/Certification
Current California RN license Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred Specialty certification preferred Current clinical certifications as required by the department
