Pay Range $47.12 - $79.59 /hour

Responsibilities

Monitor the highest acuity level of patients in our 28-bed ICU in the Level 1 Stroke and Cardiac Center following extensive injury, surgery, or life-threatening disease.

Manage complex patients requiring open heart and neurological surgery, neuro and cardiac interventional treatments, vascular, pulmonary, GI, GU, ventilator support, mechanical circulatory support, such as IABP, Impella, ECMO, CRRT, and other devices as necessary.

Assess, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.

Anticipate, identify, and respond to informational and emotional needs of patients and families; guide and direct healthcare personnel (e.g., Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients.

Maintain knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (e.g., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices).

Utilize safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms; initiate emergency support measures (e.g., CPR) and protect the patient from injury.

Begin each shift with a brief 5-minute team huddle and receive report from the off-going shift.

Provide continued care and perform procedures as detailed in the care plan (e.g., assisting with chest tubes or central lines, wound care, facilitating MRI/CT, or administering medications).

Thrive in a fast-paced environment by multitasking and reacting quickly to patient needs while continuously monitoring and caring for patients.

Serve as the patient advocate with sound judgment during critical moments to support their best interests.

Qualifications

Current WA State RN license required.

Two or more years of recent Critical Care experience preferred.

EKG Monitor Validation and ACLS required within 90 days of hire.

Graduation from an accredited nursing school approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing.

Quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire; ongoing competency is provided through internal facility resources (outside RQI resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance).

Open Heart experience; Interventional Cardiology experience and device experience; CCRN (preferred).
